Jesus Christ Was NO Community Organizer

Let us get something straight, so there is no confusion and no misunderstanding; Jesus Christ was many things, but He was NOT a community organizer. Contrary to what a certain Democratic operative said in an interview last weekend and repeated by a House member on the floor of the United States House of Representatives; Jesus Christ was NOT a community organizer.

The other half of the statement was that Pontius Pilate was a governor. This part was correct, but in the context of the statement; Sen. Obama is NOT JESUS CHRIST, and Gov. Palin is NOT PONTIUS PILATE. Politicians can sling mud at each other all day long calling each other “pigs and bulldogs with lipstick” or “old stinky fish” or whatever they care to do, and that is fine since it has nothing to do with me or what I represent. But, the minute somebody as the audacity to bring my Lord and Savior into the conversation, they better have their facts straight, regardless of their party.

I cannot believe anyone would be so insane as to promote the idea that Jesus Christ was nothing more than a community organizer. What community did He organize? Nazareth? Bethlehem? Jerusalem? Jesus Christ was no more a community organizer than Adolph Hitler was nice guy. When will this insanity stop?

Jesus Christ was the Son of God sent here to pay the price for sin and redeem mankind. Jesus Christ did have a ministry to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, but He was never nor did He ever give any impression to anyone that He was interested in organizing communities. I say this to politicians everywhere and of every party; stick to the issues and quit trying to pretend you are religious authorities, for you are not.

Well, how about this as a response to Guiliani and Palin, then?

“Jesus Christ was more a community organizer than he was a mayor.”

Yes, he wasn’t merely a community organizer. But he was far more like a community organizer than he was a mayor. As a Christian, that’s what offended me so much about Guiliani and Palin’s comments.

I maintain that Jesus Christ has no place in 2008 politics, either Republican or Democrat. To compare our Lord to any type of governmental official is silly.
